Charities and community projects that make a positive difference in Ayr can once again apply for grants from a local Funeral Directors to support their valuable work.
Earlier this year, the ML Williams Community Assistance Programme opened for the first time and awarded £1,000 to Megan’s Space – a charity established in 2019 to support young people up to the age of 25 with their mental wellbeing.
Their grant will fund eight free counselling sessions for two young people in Ayr.
Funeral Manager Pauline Ower said: “Megan’s Space is a vital service for young people in the area and we are thrilled to have been able to help them.
“The fact that we will be helping two individual people, and their families, is really important and the team at Megan’s Space were so grateful for our support.
“I hope we can have an ongoing relationship with them in the future.
“I’d urge any other local charities and good causes to get in touch during this round of applications – we would love to hear from you.”
The ML Williams Community Assistance Programme has now reopened for applications with projects within three miles of their funeral home in Falkland Park Road, Ayr, eligible to apply.
Grants are available to fund local activities which improve the quality of life of residents and the wider community.
Projects must align with one of more of the fund’s four categories – Health, Education, Employment Opportunities and Poverty and Social Deprivation.
This is the second of three application cycles, with the final one set to open in September.
