Funeral Administrator Lorraine Gordon took part in Walk all Over Cancer in aid of Cancer Research UK.
Walk All Over Cancer is a fundraising and activity challenge that occurs annually every March. Participants are challenged to a sponsored walk of 10,000 steps every day during the month, and all proceeds from the fundraising are donated to the charity.
Lorraine’s father-in-law unfortunately died of cancer, so she felt compelled to raise funds in his memory and at a time when charitable fundraising has been so hard hit by the pandemic.
After seeing the fundraiser advertised on Facebook Lorraine immediately set up a fundraising page which was quickly supported by friends and colleagues.
In order to get the steps in Lorraine would walk 5k with her dog before and after work every day and walk every weekend.
Lorraine said:” The challenge was to do 300,000 steps in March, but I decided to try and get to 500,000, which I did and more. I ended up doing 536,330 steps in March and raised £405.00 for Cancer Research.”
Congratulations to Lorraine, a fantastic effort and amount raised to support vital research.
